Description

Glass Cem is an advanced glass ionomer cement specifically formulated for luting applications in dentistry. This premium material combines fluoro-aluminosilicate glass powder and polyacrylic acid liquid resulting in a versatile and effective solution for a broad range of dental procedures. Designed with a focus on durability and biocompatibility, Glass Cem ensures reliable adhesion and long-term stability. Glass Cem consists of a finely milled powder made from silicate glass combined with a liquid containing polyacrylic acid. Upon mixing, an acid-base reaction occurs initiating the setting process. This reaction produces a hardened matrix that chemically bonds with tooth structure. The relatively slow setting time allows for easy manipulation and precise placement of the material.

Adhesive Properties and Clinical Applications

Glass Cem is known for its excellent adhesive properties allowing it to bond effectively with both enamel and dentin. This strong bond reduces the risk of microleakage which can lead to issues like fluid and bacteria seepage. It is perfect for cementing metal crowns, porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns and different types of inlays and onlays, providing strong and durable connections that can handle chewing forces. In orthodontics, it securely attaches orthodontic bands and stainless-steel crowns due to its reliable adhesion and compatibility with other dental materials. Additionally, Glass Cem can be used as a base or liner under restorations, protecting the underlying tooth structure and helping to prolong the life of the restoration. It is also effective in endodontic procedures where it can cement endodontic posts and seal access cavities during root canal treatments.

Once mixed, Glass Cem provides a generous working time allowing dental professionals to work without the pressure of a rapid setting process. Upon application, the material achieves an effective bond with minimal interference from saliva or moisture enhancing the reliability of the restoration. Excess material can be easily removed allowing for precise finishing

Products FAQ

How much quantity of powder and liquid is included in the packaging?

The Glass Cem pack contains 15 grams of powder and 10 milliliters of liquid. This compact size is designed for convenience while providing sufficient material for various dental applications.

What is the significance of the ultra-thin film in dental cement?

It allows for the creation of a very thin layer of the material, minimizing bulk and ensuring a snug fit for crowns, bridges, and orthodontic bands. This feature contributes to the accuracy and effectiveness of the restoration.
